A tributary of the Narew River, the Bug forms part of the border between Ukraine and Poland for ,〔 and between Belarus and Poland for ,〔 and is the fourth longest Polish river. ==History== The name Bug probably came from the old Germanic word ''baug-s'' which meant something winding, genual, bent (''what was mentioned about river by Gervase of Tilbury who used latin term armilla''). Word ''Baug'' took Slavians from the Goths who previously lived in large numbers near the river. Traditionally the Bug River was also often considered the ethnographical border between Orthodox and Catholic Polish peoples.
